Devloped Materials for Genial

We have just purchased Genial for our level 1 and 2 classes in both 8th and 9th grade. I'd be interested in hearing about teachers who have been using the book for a while and other matierials/tips etc. they have developed. How far do you usually get in the TB for each level? Danke im Voraus! Cheryl

geni@l
I used geni@l for the first time last year. I only got through Einheit 10, but I think I can tighten it up some. I would love to do the whole book in each level. I am struggling a little with it. The concept is so different and I didn't want to just turn it into a version of US textbooks. I have to learn to trust it yet, I guess. Reply

Getting through the book
Cheryl, I'm so glad you asked this question. I was wondering that myself. Brigitte, thanks for answering it. We're on a trimester schedule and I figure I'll end where I end. I don't know how to pace myself with this book and until I go through it, I won't have a realistic expectation as to how quickly my students will be able to use the material in each chapter. I will be very happy after I have used the book for a year or two and have developed a rhythm with it. Unfortunately there is no substitute for experience. Reply

AW: Pacing for Genial

This is my second year with geni@l. Last year I taught A1 for Level 1. We did 12 chapters (skipped 5/10/15 review chapters). This year teaching A2 and B1 to upper levels, my plan was to split the A2 book between levels 2/3 and the B1 book for levels 4/5. What I actually accomplished was about 1/3 of each book in each level (allowing time for pen pal projects with our partner school in Germany and their visit here). I plan to tighten it up next year and DO 1/2 of each book in the upper levels. We also have an Honors 2 and Honors 3 next year. THOSE classes I plan to do the whole book (without review chapters) in one level (A2 in Honors 2 and B1 in Honors 3). That is my plan. . . .the books are chock full of good stuff, so I don't know whether we'll actually get all of that done. I am absolutely LOVING geni@l since we switched from Komm Mit!.
