Everyday German for Adults

Target Group and Levels Berliner Platz is a stimulating and easily accessible German course designed according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and the European Framework of Reference.

The series is functionally driven and allows the teacher and students to mix and match the different components to form and express their own meaning. Level 3 of Berliner Platz prepares the student for the Zertifikat Deutsch by practicing language skills using the same type of exercise formats as in the Zertifikat Deutsch exam.

Structure

• Each of the volumes contains a textbook and a workbook section and an appendix with an answer key.
• The textbook offers an easily accessible approach to the German language.
• "Service stations" help review and reinforce vocabulary and structures.

Content

• The topics focus on everyday life (and preparation for everyday life) in a German-speaking environment.

Concept

• The smooth progression and clear exercise typology are oriented towards the needs of students with little or no experience in learning a foreign language.
• The starting pages for the chapters have a strong visual image to promote spontaneous understanding of the subject matter.
• Suggestions for project work provide motivation on the active application of skills, e.g. in actual everyday situations.
• Special emphasis is placed on training pronunciation.

Additional material

The "Intensive Trainer" and the exercise CD-ROM are significant parts of the textbook. Both components mean it can be adapted to groups of students with more or less prior experience and more or less lesson time. The "Intensive Trainer" has additional vocabulary and grammar exercises to provide differentiation options within similar learner groups. At the same time, the CD-ROM contains an extensive archive of exercises to allow more in-depth work at three different levels of difficulty. The teacher handouts give clear, detailed teaching tips for use with the lessons.
